UPDATEEVENT: WHEN ROOTS MOVED, HERE + NOW + EVERYONE

On 11 July, the collective Chto Delat International invites you to join them for food, music and exchange. The event marks the start of their two-month residency "When roots moved" at the Fleetstreet Theatre, which will end with their site-specific participatory performance "Here + Now + Everyone" as part of the International Summer Festival. Participants are still being sought for the performance, who can gain a closer insight into the project and ask questions during the event.

This work deals with the question of how to deal with public space in a migration society in such a way that many voices and experiences become visible and audible. Chto Delat was founded in Russia in 2003, exhibits worldwide in major museums such as the MUAC Mexico City or the New Museum in New York and has already presented at the Summer Festival in 2013. Its members have been living in exile in Hamburg since 2023. The collective combines visual art, philosophy and literature and describes itself as an ‘artistic tool to combat hate’.

Program:

Joanna Warsza, city curator Hamburg, programme presentation: "Gegendenkmäler"
Dmitry Vilensky & Tsaplya Olga Egorova, Chto Delat, project presentation: "HERE + NOW + EVERYONE"
Vera Shchelkina, artist and curator from Berlin, input: body, memory and the art of performative action
