Fábio [Krayze] Januário
Musseque
MUSSEQUE is more than just a piece for four dancers: It is home, meeting point, and lifestyle. The title refers to the neighborhoods of Luanda, Angola, where the “kuduro” style of music and dance emerged. It is a music and dance style that emerged during the civil war from 1975 onwards as an expression of freedom and resistance. The choreography by Fábio (Krayze) Januário will have its German premiere as part of the Tanztriennale at
Kampnagel. On stage, the four performers express themselves through rhythm, precision, and resistance. Their dance continues what has been experienced and felt: Past experiences are not forgotten, but transformed into the present. Words become revolt,
the body becomes an expression of resistance. The rhythmic, almost trance-like flow of movement reflects the resilience of those who have experienced war and deprivation.
