Ich lüge, um zu weinen
SIGNA returns to NORDWIND, with its first visual art installation in Germany. ICH LÜGE, UM ZU WEINEN transforms the Hubertus Wald Forum at the Hamburger Kunsthalle into an exhibition landscape of tableau-like scenes, somewhere between an ethnographic museum and a walk-through fiction. Familiar everyday objects, intimate interiors and seemingly documentary arrangements create an atmosphere that is as eerie as it is moving. SIGNA explores disguise and transformation as strategies of deception and survival, and examines how femininity takes shape, shifts and disguises itself in order to assert itself within social orders. What is on display is not a fixed truth, but a field of constant flux – an intense spatial experience for museum visitors as well as for fans of SIGNA’s legendary theatrical worlds. As early as 2007, the Danish-Austrian performance duo was part of NORDWIND programme in Berlin – shortly before their international breakthrough. Since then, SIGNA has been one of the leading names in immersive theatre on the international stage and was celebrated by audiences in Hamburg with five productions at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus.
