LAYERS is a performance rooted in radical imagination, envisioning an anti-capitalist and anti-patriarchal reality. Its creators and performers (Katarzyna Żeglicka and Alicja Czyczel) explore the potential for change built by their imagination. Combining their herstories, queer feminisms, bodily practices and definitions of utopia, they create a stage narrative composed of dreams of an anarchist world. The performance draws inspiration from Cristina Morales’ novel “Lectura fácil”. LAYERS are an explosive mixture of histories of non-normative bodies: a feminist-queer collage; a gentle manifesto for a world without borders; a witty utopia; and a rebellious lament about ageing.

The show will take the form of a relaxed performance. The participants will be invited to go beyond the standard patterns of the audience. People will be able to freely explore the audience and stage space, watch the performance in a way that suits their needs (sitting, lying down and standing), without having to remain silent. Video, lighting and sound will be prepared so as not to cause discomfort. Audio description will be prepared for headphones, as well as fragmentary, integrated into the spoken text of the performance. The words spoken on stage will be translated into sign language, and the presence of the interpreter will be integrated into the whole performance, making her a co-performer.

Guests are invited to wear a mask, provided that it does not restrict their own accessibility. If possible, please test yourself for flu/COVID before attending the event. In the event of a positive test or cold symptoms, we ask that you refrain from attending the event.
