The Worldship
Inspired by Malcolm Ferdinand's theory of decolonial ecology and his metaphor of the “Worldship,” Hamburg-based Mexican choreographer Yolanda Morales embarks on a dance journey through stormy waters. In the course of this journey, repetitive, mechanized processes deeply rooted in colonial orders of physical labor are deconstructed. In a durational process, the audience is invited to experience this journey with the dancers. The result is an image of a future ship, carried by the idea of radical hospitality. The Kampnagel stage becomes a place of arrival and permanence, where people and the environment enter into a new relationship and physical well-being is celebrated together after work is done.
