CEL (Felix Kubin & Hubert Zemler)

CEL is the duo of Hamburg’s electronic wizard Felix Kubin and percussionist Hubert Zemler from Warsaw. The two develop rhythm-driven cascades of sound with references to the minimalist 4/4 rhythms of Can or Kraftwerk, and the sequencer-controlled brain loops of early Neue Deutsche Welle. thequietus.com described the music of Kubin, who plays his self-developed Mechatronikon rhythm machine, and Zemler's free jazz percussion as »thrilling, a wholly enjoyable cacophony.« At Kampnagel, the duo will be presenting their second album »Gegenwelt« (buerau b), mixed by Mense Reents: songs with appropriate titles such as «Eiweißangriff« (egg white attack) or «Flucht zum Mars« (escape to Mars) open up worlds of sound ranging from synth punk to minimal music, and will ignite a rousing energy live.
