Mandeep Raikhy

DANCING THE SECULAR by Delhi-based choreographer Mandeep Raikhy is a city-based performative intervention that invites around 20 people from Hamburg to join a day-long journey across the landscape of their city and poses questions to anti-semitism, islamophobia and religious communalism.

Starting at the Planetarium inside Stadtpark and ending at Kampnagel Piazza, this choreographic promenade will take its participants on this journey on foot over 2.5 hours, carrying between them a few anti-hate banners. Although participation in the promenade may involve scores that include activities such as walking, standing, lying down, rolling, running, jumping and dancing, the participants can make choices about which scores they'd like to join and which to stay out of. There will be plenty of time for rest and stillness through this journey. It would be ideal if the participants stay together through the course of the promenade, but leaving early is also an option. Participants are requested to carry a bottle of water and a snack and wear comfortable clothing that they don't mind rolling on the ground in!

Due to numerous cancellations, the Goethe-Institut Hamburg's BEYOND THE LONE OFFENDER conference at Kampnagel will not take place as planned. The official press release on this matter the Goethe-Institut published here.

You are still invited to various artistic contributions, which will nevertheless take place at Kampnagel after close consultation with the artists and initiatives, in order to offer spaces of commemoration and remembrance:
