Jeff Mills has made history as a producer, DJ and co-founder of techno music – and has also dissolved the boundary between club and classical music with various orchestral projects. Now, with »Tomorrow Comes The Harvest«, Mills is presenting a project at the Elbphilharmonie that, as a congenial synthesis of jazz, electronic music and world music, aims to create a mind-expanding concert experience. »Tomorrow Comes The Harvest« was originally created as a collaboration between Jeff Mills and legendary Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen, who recently passed away, and keyboardist Jean-Phi Dary for an album released by Blue Note in 2018. Now at the Elbphilharmonie, Mills and Dary form a trio with tabla virtuoso Prabhu Edouard, playing together «to reach a higher level of consciousness through sound». In the process, solo passages alternate with joint improvisations – and over the course of a concert evening, a spiritually pervasive sound cosmos unfolds, which in turn has much in common with the quasi-religious ecstasy of electronic club culture.

This is one of three concerts of the Kampnagel International Summer Festival in cooperation with the Elbphilharmonie Sommer.
