Looking for Access Friends

Jahrestagung der Dramaturgischen Gesellschaft 2026

For the 2026 annual conference of the Dramaturgical Society, “Time to Care,” we are looking for several people to serve as Access Friends who will provide support during the conference in matters of accessibility and help create a space of solidarity.

Where? Kampnagel, Hamburg

When? 27.02. + 28.02. Total period approx. 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m., divided into three shifts of 6 hours each.

Assignments on individual conference days are also possible.

What are Access Friends?

Access Friends help break down barriers and make accessibility needs visible and a matter of course. They help participants find their way around, request assistance, and participate in the conference independently.

Access Friends are approachable and, if necessary, will also approach people themselves to clarify whether and how support is desired. They are equipped with clearly visible identification badges.

Possible tasks may include:

Before the conference:

  • Pick-up service (suburban train, bus, and tram stop)

During the conference:

  • Orientation on the premises (rooms, paths, toilets, quiet areas)
  • Accompaniment to your seat (beanbag seat, wheelchair space, chair)
  • Assistance with questions about accessibility
  • Accompaniment within the premises
  • Contact person in case of overload or uncertainty
  • Assistance with catering and lunch (e.g., carrying coffee cups or bringing/serving food)
  • Referral to the relevant departments (e.g., organization, communication)

After the conference:

  • Accompaniment to the exit and/or bus stop

If necessary, also:

  • Support in using quiet rooms
  • Help in finding quiet areas
  • Agreement on how to request assistance during program items
The specific tasks depend on the moment and the needs of the participants.

Who we are looking for

  • People who are sensitive to accessibility and different needs
  • People who are attentive, respectful, and non-patronizing
  • Experience in event management or support roles is welcome, but not a prerequisite

Bezahlung

€120 gross/6-hour shift (+ free ticket on the days you work)
