Performative Construction Site

The PERFORMATIVE CONSTRUCTION SITE turns Kampnagel's transformation into a public experiment. Together with raumlabor berlin, the construction site is not hidden away but opened up as a space for art, encounter, and transformation. For more than 25 years, the collective has created temporary architectures that do not offer finished solutions but generate situations in which new forms of living together can be imagined and tested. Here, architecture becomes an invitation – to participate, to unlearn, and to rethink. At the heart of the project is its collaboration with Migrantpolitan, Kampnagel's community culture centre. Bringing together diverse perspectives, experiences, and networks, Migrantpolitan transforms the construction site into a shared space of cultural production. Community Bath, gardens, kiosks, food stalls, workshops, and artist residencies connect artistic practice with everyday life, creating spaces for exchange, care, and collective making. Funky Tours, Big Moments, podcasts, and Brainfood accompany the building process through performative interventions, turning demolition, reuse, and construction into artistic practice. Construction fences become stages, discarded theatre floors become new architectures, and the building site itself becomes a living laboratory for the city. The focus is not the finished building, but the relationships, ideas, and communities that emerge while it is being built.
