For the production BLACKNUSS! at Summer Festival 2022
The artist duo We Work in the Dark (Obaro Ejimiwe/Luiza Prado) creates poetic spaces of community and care in the context of racist and (neo)colonial oppression. BLACKNUSS! is a large scale installation where participants are invited to experience the possibilities for joy, care, and intimacy afforded by the creation of spaces of exchange amongst Afrodiasporic communities over three weeks at Kampnagel International Summer Festival. Every Friday, the installation will become home to talks and performances offering plural, multiple poetic conceptions and visions for possibility.
For the performance CAREFULLY, SO CAREFULLY on 26 August 2022 at Kampnagel, we are looking for 5 singers from the African diaspora to sing a piece composed by Obaro Ejimiwe while having their hair braided. The prerequisite is a good vocal training and the ability to improvise small passages independently as well as the willingness to have their hair braided by professional braiders.
A total of 2 hours of rehearsals are scheduled before the performance during the week of the show. The performance will be remunerated with 500 Euros. For further information and application please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with a short bio and a photo.
