A cheeky, laughing woman with short hair and a red cap hangs from a white wooden door frame with her arms outstretched. She has a gap in her teeth, tattoos and is wearing a blue chequered shirt. A chandelier hangs in the background.

Adrianne Lenker has become a figurehead of contemporary indie folk art with her band Big Thief, serving as a singer, guitarist, and songwriter. Along the way, the American musician has also solidified her status as one of the outstanding songwriters of a younger generation, with five solo albums released to date. Hardly anyone infuses emotions into songs as intensely and mysteriously as the 32-year-old artist, who recently helped many people through the pandemic with two albums released simultaneously, one of which included a 21-minute instrumental lullaby written for her ex-girlfriend. Now, she is releasing a new solo album titled »Bright Future,« with the single »Ruined« showcasing all of Adrianne Lenker's artistry. Accompanied only by a dissonant piano, the song largely consists of a chorus where Lenker immerses us in the downward spiral of a relationship, captivating us at the same time. It is arguably the most beautiful emotional rollercoaster of the pop year 2024.
