With the bestsellers The Integration Paradox and Myth of Education, sociologist, author and contemporary diagnostician Aladin El-Mafaalani has become one of the most important voices in Germany. In his latest book, he not only examines the term »racism« and provides an overview of the history and present of this formative misanthropic ideology of rule. In doing so, he takes a close look at recent developments and discourses and puts them in context. How does one define racism, when did it arise, how has it changed until today? How can one tell if an action or statement is racist? What is the difference between structural and institutional racism - and why should we know? How is racism perceived by those affected? What are the responsibilities of educational institutions?

Aladin El-Mafaalani has been researching racism, discrimination and social inequality for over ten years and summarizes the state of the discussion in this book in a generally understandable way.

NEXT CULTURE SYMPOSIUM #4: DIE WELT IST VERÄNDERBAR

symposium FÜr Rassismuskritische Haltung, SolidaritÄt Und Weltverbesserung

How can you change the world? Where does one start? Do we need to diagnose and locate ourselves in the now in order to imagine the future, or do we first need to remember in order to be able to think about tomorrow? Or is it all about the here and now? The Next Culture Line Up gathers diverse future and now optimists from art, educational practice and science, who deal with practical world improvement on a daily basis. In lectures, method shots and workshops, participants will experience perspective hopping, unlearning strategies and world improvement tools for the future.

The Next Culture Symposium is a network format of cultural education that addresses current social phenomena with analytical and practical tools of art. It is about expanding one's own reality with fields of possibility and perspectives in order to gain a new perspective on the world.
