The great theatre practitioner Alain Platel is an old friend of Kampnagel. Most recently he wowed Hamburg audiences with his award-winning production of TAUBERBACH and the pop opera COUP FATAL. In his new piece he joins forces with director Frank von Laecke and composer Steven Prengels to shine a light on a social biotope par excellence: the marching band. Through drama, dance and a lot of music they present the amateur ensemble as a valuable social refuge for people who, despite personal differences, are united by a shared passion of music. The star of the evening is an ageing trombone player, who was moved to the cymbals in his final days. Alongside actors from NTGent, 30 members of Musikzug Hoisdorf play newly arranged pieces by the likes of Strauss and Verdi, as well as songs from their native march repertoire.
