As part of the Black History Month 2020 Omonblanks and Francesca Sika Dede Puhlmann invite to a practical examination of the archive and the heterogeneity of Black and African life realities. In the first part of the event, members of the Black Community in Hamburg will discuss how their experiences of migration and discrimination can be transformed into empowerment. The video recording of the discussion will later be documented in the audiovisual online archive »The Art Concept«, which collects, processes and makes accessible Black Knowledge in the form of conversations. In the second part of the event, Omonblanks creates an audiovisual time capsule that transports the audience to Ghana in the 1950s: Fragments from Ghana’s music and visual archive lead back to the scene of the independence movements and are thus used to update African history.
