Barbi Marković

Barbi Marković is a fanfare of the absurd. From her horn sounds a reworking of the world in favor of her own visions of reality. She tells horror stories to combat fear, rants, steals, and with every sentence crafts a weapon against silence and doubt. Her style is a shimmering chaos of crashes, exaggerations, and flashes of light. Profound, funny, absurd: Barbi Marković knows how to invent herself into the world in order to make it more describable.

Born in Serbia, she has lived and worked in Austria since 2006 and has been writing in German since 2009. In 2024, Barbi Marković was awarded the Leipzig Book Fair Prize.
