Festival curator Branko Šimić’s new work is based on Franz Kafka’s »A Report to an Academy« in which the ape Rotpeter is kidnapped from Africa and then reaches the »average education of a European« by way of a variety artist training – until he recognizes that his identity can never be liberated in the dichotomy between ape and man. On the basis of this text overlay, Simic develops a political theater choreography that questions current social political reality. What does integration mean in a society that is more and more divided between rightist/populist positions and leftist social romanticism?
