»telling Our Story In A World Gone Mad«

On November 23-25, Kampnagel will host the first CONFERENCE ON MIGRATION AND MEDIA AWARENESS, bringing together a forum of international media practitioners, journalists, politicians and people with or without an experience of asylum-searching. Across countless workshops as well as podium-, exhibition-, music- and performance-formats, participants are brought into a discursive conversation about political atmospheres and opinions in the era of the »post-welcome culture.« Methods are exchanged and strategies developed, with the goal of using positive counter-narratives, social engagement and creative strategies borne out of the experience of exile to counter negative media stories about immigration and migration, fake news and »hate speech.« At the »Infomedia Souk,« migrant-initiated community-media projects will present themselves as sources of expressive empowerment and alternative narratives, as well as media pluralism and diversity. Politicians and activists, journalists and bloggers, educators and social workers, community representatives and the Hamburg public are invited to discuss the relevance of social empowerment and social participation.

On Thursday right before the CONFERENCE ON MIGRATON AND MEDIA AWARENESS are two PRE-CONFERENCE EVENTS:
