The Hamburg Performative Book Fair focuses on critical analysis and discourse - but on Sunday lunchtime we also invite you to digress, because certain forms of fantasy certainly manage to be entertaining and inspire political dreaming at the same time. A perfect representative of this art is the bestselling author James A. Sullivan, who was born in West Point (Highlands, New York) in 1974 and grew up and studied in Germany. Together with Bernhard Hennen, he wrote one of the most successful novels in German-language fantasy, "Die Elfen". This was followed by the bestseller "Nuramon", the "Chronicles of Beskadur" series, but also science fiction titles such as "Chrysaor" and "The City of Symbiotes". The characters in these initially classic genre hams not only search for the lost memories of their previous incarnations, engage in sword fights or communicate with artificial intelligences, they are also identification figures for readers of colour, casually question their gender identities, or build grassroots democratic communities away from kingdoms... Get cosy for fantastically progressive world-dreaming!

With James A. Sullivan and Sarah Fartuun Heinze (moderator).

We appreciate if you do a Corona rapid test at home and wear a mask in crowded indoor spaces at the Book Fair.
