HAIL THE NEW PURITAN shows one day in the life of Michael Clark, his company and his expanded circle of friends consisting of artists, musicians and nightlife-characters. Dance-movie pioneer Charles Atlas, who was also responsible for the video- and lighting-design of ANIMAL / VEGETABLE / MINERAL, directed this »mockumentary« or »docufantasy«. The movie is filmed in the middle of the 80ies, and gives an insight into the early work of Michael Clark himself and London’s subculture at this time.
