God's Entertainment

Human Zoo

Past dates

At a time at which temporary travel restrictions are being placed on undesirable human city residents in supposedly ‘public’ places, a zoo-political trans-species perspective promises new discoveries. So God’s Entertainment are working with the hypothesis that social and material control and order mechanisms undergo a transfer from animal to human. It’s not a long way from pigeon spikes and nets to park benches that homeless people are no longer allowed to sleep on. Obstructions against humans in residences – or, as in the zoo, means to prevent flight–remain almost invisible, but as such could hardly be any more brutal.

For the duration of ZOO 3000, the Vienna performance collective will erect a HUMAN ZOO, in which human fringe groups will be exhibited. The performance installation attempts to break the cycle of stereotypes by illustrating the original. God’s Entertainment arranges and stages clichés so that the audience’s preconceptions are confirmed and reinforced.
