Since the 2000s, contemporary dance and performance art have been concerned with the relationship between the ephemeral and the permanent, the medial and the material, the physical and the substantial. Similar to scientific fields, such as science and technology studies (STS), praxeology, or new materialism, they have ascribed intrinsic value and meaning to objects, substances, materials, and have challenged an anthropocentric view of the concept of the actor. The conference aims to open a debate on such developments and reflections in dance and performance art and in science. What kinds of material is generated during rehearsals? How is it used? In which ways the artistic process is documented and archived?
