Trumpit

Trumpit takes over the streets of Hamburg! In times of fake news and disinformation, a mysterious figure appears in the urban space: sometimes as a “paperboy” in the tradition of the newspaper sellers of the 19th and 20th centuries, sometimes as a new resident of Hamburg. Trumpit announces the latest news, stories that may not have reached the city’s inhabitants yet. But are these messages actually true? What are facts, and what is fiction? Finnish artist Juha Valkeapää’s solo performance explores the power of news through voice, sound and performance.

Juha Valkeapää (born 1967) is a Finnish vocal artist and performance maker. He has shown his art around the world, from São Paulo to Seoul and from Kirkenes to Cairo. The latest works include Firehead (2022), a street performance, Animal beings (2023), a performance that pretends to be a guided tour, and Tree Concert (2025), a collaborative sound performance that imagines forest. Recently, Valkeapää has been working with a live art group Oblivia.
