Karim & Karam DJ Set

Dancing to love with Karin Dreijer (The Knife/Fever Ray) and Maryam Nikandish.

As one of the two siblings behind nowdefunct The Knife – performing again in a rare event right before this Set next door in EUROPA EUROPA –, Karin Dreijer has been described as one of the most innovative and influential electronic artists of the last few years. In her solo project, Fever Ray, Dreijer blended wonderful melodies and a nightmarish atmosphere to create a hybrid hypnotic auditory experience, including at Kampnagel in 2009. Together with her friend and DJ colleague Maryam Nikandish, The Knife’s solo flutist, dancer and performer in EUROPA EUROPA, Dreijer will perform a gender blurring and extremely danceable DJ set in the KMH at the festival’s closing party. Their eclectic electronic musical repertoire includes the energetic beats of Omar Souleyman – who will open the festival in a similarly eccentric way – as well as Azealia Banks and Death Grips. The duo try to position politically within their sets by mixing up western club culture with Iranian pop songs of the ‘80s from Nikandish’s childhood, or playing a high range of songs by female artists. And they describe themselves as spreading love in tightest tights.
