Kaufmann / Witt

In »Sterben«, a new ritual has been created: funeral ceremonies for the living, i.e. those who will die in the future. Visitors can decide whether they want to plan their own funeral service and experience it live at Kampnagel, or whether they want to participate in someone else's ceremony as digital mourners.

In their immersive performances, Kaufmann / Witt deal with the bright and dark moments of life - with friendship, depression and death. In »Sterben« they create opportunities to encounter one's own fragility with carefully prepared ceremonies. To do so, they develop new forms of coming together between analog and digital space.

If you would like to attend someone else's funeral service, you can book online directly here (alternatively, you can call the Kampnagel office). To participate, you will need a computer or tablet, camera and microphone (built-in or external), and internet access. Please also note that your camera image is a necessary part of the performance and will be visible to all participants of the performance.
