The transnational company La Fleur associated with the director Monika Gintersdorfer and the choreographer Franck Edmond Yao will give their German debut with DIE SELFMADE-ARISTOKRATIE based on Honoré de Balzac. As in the case of dandies and courtesans in the 19th century, the dancers, DJs, actors and showbiz stars of La Fleur are a kind of resistant aristocracy from below. After arriving in the western metropolises, they don’t just meet a mix of luxury, attitudes and styles, but also an isolationist immigration policy and invisible but effective barriers between the classes. The artists don’t accept these limitations. They constantly change their status in accordance with the principle: »you determine who you want to be«.
