In Lars Haider's third crime novel “Hinterm Horizont geht's weiter”, his protagonist Lukas Hammerstein has to show how flexible he is. Radical upheaval at “Hamburg News”: the old editor-in-chief is stepping down - and his successor seems hell-bent on turning the entire editorial team upside down.Hammerstein, who actually likes investigative reporting, is suddenly expected to report on the city's rich, beautiful and powerful.Indeed, influential Hamburgers are happy to grant the reporter access to their homes - they show off what they have and invite him to an evening party with house music and culinary delights. But Hammerstein's hosts are increasingly having fatal accidents - sometimes one falls down the stairs drunk, sometimes one crashes into a tree.Is it all coincidence? With dachshund Finchen and partner in crime Udo Lindenberg at his side, Hammerstein once again proves to have the right instinct.
