Lia Rodrigues is one of the most important personalities on the South American dance scene. Rodrigues' work deals with the relationship between humans and nature, and draws inspiration from the spiritual practices of Brazil’s indigenous population, which she connects with everyday urban reality. A Yanomani shaman prophesied the collapse of the sky – this is the starting point for Lia Rodrigues’ FOR THE SKY NOT TO FALL. The choreography is inspired by the mechanical rhythmic structures of cars, helicopters and sirens, contrasted with natural phenomena like rain, storms and heat. In this new production, Lia Rodrigues reflects on individual responsibilities in the usual poetic ways, against the backdrop of worldwide climate change.
