In 2009, paragraph 377 of the Indian criminal code, which declares homosexuality to be illegal, was determined to be unconstitutional. Four years later, the law enforcement officials revised their decision and once again made the punishment for same-sex love up to 10 years of imprisonment. The choreographer and »artivist« Mandeep Raikhy delivers an artistic answer to the randomness and violence of this jurisprudence. He leads the audience into two men’s bedroom. The two performers demonstratively celebrate their carnal, mechanical and emotional meeting. QUEEN-SIZE, which can only be shown in India at unofficial venues, is a complex performative game with voyeurism and censorship.

The indian choreographer Mallika Taneja will be presenting her work SORRY FOR THE INTERRUPTION (RUKAWAT KE LIYE KHED HAI) on 7 and 8 November during India Week Hamburg. Further information here.
