Mariano Pensotti has become a star on the international theatre scene in a very short time. With pieces whose content confronts the now and whose structures point the way to the future of theatre, he has established himself as a storyteller for the 21st century. Pensotti’s theatre has the same power of suggestion found in movies, whose editing and narrative techniques he has adapted for the stage. CINEASTAS is a portrait of four film makers and their film projects. Pensotti masterfully cuts the action on two levels: the artists’ biographies (based on interviews with Argentinean film makers) blend in with the re-enacted film material. The fast-paced interplay between reality and fiction also becomes a parable of Buenos Aires. Theatre as great cinema!
