In 2001 DANCE ON GLASSES made director and author Amir Reza Koohestani famous around the world, establishing him as one of the most important voices in contemporary Iranian theatre. In the piece a real couple sat opposite each other at a four meter long table and delivered Koohestani’s intimate dialogue about the end of a relationship – in a way that was irritatingly candid for Iranian society. Later on, the actors themselves split up and now 13 years later Koohestani has constructed a fictional situation in his newest piece TIMELOSS. The former couple comes on stage together and tries to synchronise with the video recording from the original performance. But the pair can no longer meet their own tones, and the scene develops into a reflection on their own relationship. With TIMELOSS, Amir Reza Koohestani creates a powerful and touching investigation of personal history, in which the different levels of reality and acting are stunningly interlaced.
