With HARD TO BE SOFT – A BELFAST PRAYER, Oona Doherty created a sacred reflection on her hometown in 2017. Conceived as a physical prayer in four episodes, the work is dedicated to and about the people of Belfast. From this stage piece, performers John Scott & Sam Finnegan dance the duet MEAT KALEIDOSCOPE – resulting in a powerful performance about bodies, class, and gender roles in the Markart Hall of the Hamburger Kunsthalle, in dialogue with the historical salon paintings by Hans Makart.
