The final part of his trilogy focuses on video footage from the beginnings of the Syrian Civil War. PIXELATED REVOLUTION, a work that Rabih Mroué translated into an exhibition project for dOCUMENTA 13, takes as its starting point the online spread of images from the crisis region and shows the complicated connections between political activism, fragile human bodies, popular technology and the reality of war. Mroué uses the moment in which civilian witnesses’ cell-phone cameras encounter the searching guns of snipers to create a poetic media-theory of death.
