In Queer B-Cademy, Rasheed plans on conducting a participatory poetic-symposium about the metamorphic capacities of water and its analogical significance to being queer. We are »Queer as Water«. We are familiar with the phrase »Clear as Water«. Well it’s not clear, it’s rather Queer. It is an invisible that shimmers, this is the paradox of transparency, that which is see-through yet we see, that which has no form or color yet takes the shape of its context and reflects its colors. Its invisibility is not its debility but rather its power.

This workshop explores how shapeless water is the donor of shape as it is the matter that lubricates our eyes and allows us to perceive form. It also demonstrates how water is the donor of verbal literacy as it lubricates our tongue and grants us the gift of pronunciation. The segments of this workshop shall be intercepted by poetry readings relevant to the subject, authored by Rasheed.

Rasheed Jalloul is a Lebanese architect and composer, based in Barcelona. In an attempt to weave the disciplines of architecture and music Rasheed’s artistic research explores gravity as a moderator of geometry, »a metronome of form«. His work attempts to uncover new and unconventional »scales« of understanding, derived by integrating a synesthetic language of architecture and music, where spatial construction aligns with linguistic semantics.
