Regina Rossi

In GLOOM, Hamburg choreographer Regina Rossi puts mysticism at the center of her choreography. GLOOM embarks on the search for elements of a potential contemporary form of mysticism, and explores which role capitalism current plays in relation to the mystical cults. Hades, Hermes, Demeter – the mysteries and the mysticism of Greek antiquity, the European Middle Ages and other cultures are bravely blended with organic products, shipping conglomerates and contemporary yoga hype. Regina conceives the dance as a common experience: In GLOOM she stages the mystical experience as a collision between dance and speech, in which contemplation, ritual and mysteries become an opportunity for the collective. With this she continues her interest in the subject of community, which she had already explored in her last work, TCHI-KUDUM: ZOON POLITIKON 2014.
