Capoeira is a movement culture with a strong community ideology: the circle – Roda – is the space, the movement is the language, the game is the combat. In her new piece, Regina Rossi breaks down the complex structure of Capoeira into its simplest constituent parts and asks how it transforms individual people into a collective creature. TCHI-KUDUM: ZOON POLITIKON is the Brazilian choreographer’s first group choreography project and the third part of her trilogy of exhaustion, in which the young artist relocates Brazilian folk and pop culture in contemporary choreography.
