This summer, Buback in Hamburg will release a new album by F.S.K. It’s the 15th regular one of the Munich-based band, which was founded in 1980 and continues to perform in its original lineup. This includes curator Justin Hoffmann, author Thomas Meinecke, visual artist Michaela Melián and photographer Wilfried Petzi, completed since 1991 by drummer Carl Oesterhelt, who replaced a drum machine. F.S.K. understands itself as an art school band: not virtuosity, but attitude counts. F.S.K. makes music about music, which concerns both their own pieces and covers. Current trends become material and a distinctive band sound. Appropriating, overwriting and updating music. They released records of contemporary post punk, try outs of folk forms (polkas, yodeling), then more abstract patterns (post rock, electronic music), always producing in the band format (even when the music appeared on techno labels). In the recent past, the band has performed purposefully rarely. At the Summer Festival, where they last played in 2017, the legendary band will now play the raucous final concert. Speaking of art school: Support comes from Total Emotional and Die Maßnahme, both current bands of students of the HFBK Hamburg. And in the afternoon at 5pm F.S.K. are guests on the ZEITGEISTER Podcast at the Waldbühne in the Festival Avant-Garten.
