In the podcast »Zeitgeister« (in German language) by the ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius, cultural journalist Ralf Schlüter follows the tracks laid out in famous songs and pieces of music. He finds hidden messages and political statements, cultural archetypes and new utopias. Between numerous references ranging from novels to computer games, each episode begins with a piece of music as a starting point for a short trip into the cultural history of our present. For the LIVE edition at the Summer Festival, the legendary band F.S.K. will join him on stage, before playing a concert at the club on the same evening. Based on this year's Summer Festival special on soccer, ZEITGEISTER LIVE is dedicated to the song »You'll never walk alone.« Originally written for a musical, through the fan chants of Liverpool FC it became the most famous stadium chant in the (western) world. At the same time, however, it is a pop classic, covered and used very differently by stars such as Gerry and the Pacemakers, Pink Floyd, Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone or Lana del Rey. Obviously, »You'll never walk alone« is a projection screen for the desire for community. The song seems kitschy, but it also mobilizes the will to resist and the cohesion, even of the oppressed. In ZEITGEISTER LIVE, Ralf Schlüter embarks on the path of the song together with the band F.S.K., which has, since 40 years, repeatedly explored cultural traces of individual songs and motifs in its music.
