Sia Piontek's crime thriller debut “Die Sehenden und die Toten” has it all: former homicide investigator Carla Seidel has relocated from Hamburg to the idyllic Wendland region. There she ventures a new start with her highly sensitive daughter Lana in an old half-timbered house. But then 18-year-old Justus is found dead, his eyes gruesomely replaced by shards of mirror. Carla takes on the case and quickly gets the uneasy feeling that nobody, not even his parents, really knew Justus. When Lana discovers a tattoo on a classmate that the dead boy had as a scar on his thigh, events take a turn for the worse and Carla realizes that the past always catches up with you ...

A very successful start to a new crime series with investigator Carla Seidel.
