Stanley Love Performance Group

Stanley Love has been a choreographer and artist in New York for over 25 years. His eclectic and highly energetic dances exist outside of conventional trajectories for success and traditional modes of production for contemporary art. He has been rehearsing in a Brooklyn park with a boom box and a changing cast of performers since the late 1980s. He has staged his performances at the city’s most renowned cultural sites, including MoMA PS1 and the Performa Biennial. His formally composed and sincerely emotional dance performances are generous counterpoints to the world of strictly professional dance ensembles and a strong demonstration of the power of pop culture. Stanley Love (not his artist’s name) creates art that communicates his love of dance – passionate, contagious and life-enhancing.
