Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch

Pina Bausch, the grand dame of dance theater, made Wuppertal into the epicenter of German dance in the 1970s and has written international dance history with her pieces. 1980 – A PIECE BY PINA BAUSCH is one of the great choreographer’s darker works, imbued with pain and vulnerability. It premiered five months after the death of Pina Bausch’s artistic companion and life partner, Ralf Borzik. With its impressively wide range of music, ranging from Beethoven and Debussy to Elgar and Brahms, the piece becomes a wistful elegy.
