Theater Stap / Tibaldus en Andere Hoeren

With wit and great warmth, young Belgian theatre collective, ‘Tibaldus en andere hoeren’ and Theater Stap (famous for their collaborations with Belgian star choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui) have joined forces to create 4:3, an ode to the unexpected and to people’s imperfections. This is reflected in a collection of Gods’ stories: the Gods explain, dance and sing – sometimes clearly and distinctly, sometimes incomprehensibly – to reveal who they are and what they do. And they are as mortal as on the Greek Mount Olympus: the Mother of the Gods wears orthopaedic shoes, the God of Beauty waves his feathers lethargically, the God of Death loves people. Mysterious illuminated images emerge, reminiscent of the great Baroque painters. An evening in which time seems to stand still and the tear in the backdrop of the world becomes visible in an impressive manner. Tibaldus en andere hoeren vaporise complexity, until we understand it and write our own stories.
