Tricia Rose
ROUNDTABLE & COMMUNITY-EVENT: CONVERSATIONS ON THE ART OF RESILIENCE
Past dates
8/13/25 - 8/14/25
12:30 PM
In this two-part format, Prof. Tricia Rose (Brown University) invites participants to a shared exploration of the political and utopian dimensions of resilience. Tricia Rose is an internationally renowned sociologist and award-winning author, whose research focuses on African American culture, racism, and gender inequality. The event serves as a supporting program for the world premiere of “longing to tell – a blues opera” by akua naru, Tyshawn Sorey, Ensemble Resonanz, and Anta Helena Recke, which is based on Tricia Rose’s book “Longing to Tell: Black Women Talk About Sexuality and Intimacy.” In addition to the one-hour sessions of input and discussion, participation includes tickets to the premiere of “longing to tell” and the Noname concert at the Elbphilharmonie. The aim is to create a relaxed space for collective reflection and exchange, where resilience can be understood as a creative, collective force in the face of structural oppression.

This workshop is exclusively open for BIPOC*. Please only register if you identify as such. The workshop is free of charge. The event is limited to 20 participants. The event will be held in English.
