The Hamburg- and Cologne-based choreographer Ursina Tossi uses a combination of dance, visual media and digital sounds to address political topics, creating science fiction scenes that confront spectators at close quarters. In her last work, BLUE MOON (2018), she appropriated the figure of the werewolf from its mostly male tradition. In her latest piece, WITCHES, she fuses together historical facts and pop-cultural fantasies about the figure of the witch to create a bizarre mixture. At the heart of this piece is the ambivalence between powerful and persecuted female bodies.
