Making a theater performance accessible for deaf people means placing interpreters on stage and inclusion? No! If you want to create access, you need to understand the barriers that Deaf people face and how these barriers can be categorized historically and structurally. This workshop is intended to provide a basis for this. Like other marginalized communities, the Deaf community is severely underrepresented in the art and cultural scene. They experience exclusion, both when they are in the audience and when they themselves are active as cultural workers.

The workshop is realized in collaboration between RYKENA/JÜNGST and Kampnagel and made possible as part of the three-year concept FUTURE BODIES (2022-24), funded by the option funding of the Cultural Department of the City of Munich and the concept funding of the Fonds Darstellende Künste with funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.
