Queer B-Cademy: B-ing is B-lieving

After the success of last year’s Queer B-Cademy, get ready for a new semester and seductive new syllabus. Its title, »B-ing Is B-lieving,« hints at the great programmatic question of queer authenticity and the belief in queer people’s dignity. The three-day semester is sprinkled with workshops, games, concerts, performances, talk shows and club nights run by people from the local Hamburg scene, accompanied by select international guests.

Debuting as MC, producer and solo artist ten years back, he managed to collaborate with some of the greatest avant-garde artists such as CocoRosie or Blixa Bargeld. In recent years, he joined Tucké Royale (also part of the Queer B-Cademy program) and Hans Unstern in the performance band project, Boiband. At Queer B-cademy he will be playing solo, blending dark clubby sounds with spoken word poetry.

WORKSHOP YOU SEE... MIT JAMAL GERALD (+SAT)
JAMAL GERALD of Leeds, UK is all likes to stay in dialogue, in order to get rid his own remnants of dogmatism on the one hand, and to persuade others to question theirs. The socially aware and skillfully sensitive young author and performer likes to talk about identities, life experiences and to celebrate individuality. In his 1 on 1 performance, YOU SEE..., he wants to pick up the good old topic of privilege over a cup of tea. How bout that?

She discusses the energies flowing through a vast number of things: frogs, primordial soup, Frankenstein and trans wrath to name a few... This meeting is a community meeting with PEDRO MARUM and ZANDER PORTER of XENOENTITIESNETWORK welcoming everyone to discuss Barad’s texts and ideas. Find Barad’s text here.

Last time we saw MAVI VELOSO at Queer B-Cademy, she humbly titled her performance "Experiment #1" and impressed us even more with her physical and vocal performance. The Amsterdam based performer is back, but her aria turned into a tercett – with Dynno Dada and Tina Escarlatina she’s putting on ATTACK TRRRAH TRANS OPERA, a very personal research piece about body and voice transitions and migration.

WORKSHOP SEXPERIENCE WITH YOUSEF ISKANDAR (09.02.)
Last year Spanish authorities denied YOUSEF ISKANDAR the permission to travel, so we missed out on this gem stone of a workshop. (NO BORDERS!) But this year, the journey is taking place and not stopping inside the workshop space. Yousef is going to take you to the depths of the spiritual powers of your own sexuality. Why are we searching for it in all these Far Eastern rituals when all we need is within reach. Challenging obsolete moral codes the group is welcome to rediscover the connection between spirituality and sexuality in the nude. Please provide basic hygiene, avoid using heavy perfume, bring your own bed sheet and comfortable apparel.

ALPHABET OF FAME - NAMEDROPPING AGAINST FORGETTING - NURAY DEMIR
NURAY DEMIR is a radically trans-disciplinary and research oriented artist, passionate about feminist and post-colonial theory debates and terminology. Her critical focus on social exclusions and complex hierarchies prompts her to create artistic irritations, take counter-positions and thus producing spaces of empowerment and social justice. In Alphabet of Fame she summons the spirits of feminist past and present by a ritual of name-dropping.

Our GAMECHANGERS gaming alley is putting a queer twist on common games and welcomes back Dr.Tucké Royale with his game of memory. Join our lunch break! Bullies not allowed!
