Open Call

Call for Participation

The artist duo We Work in the Dark (Obaro Ejimiwe/Luiza Prado) creates poetic spaces of community and care in the context of racist and (neo)colonial oppression. BLACKNUSS! is a large scale installation where participants are invited to experience the possibilities for joy, care, and intimacy afforded by the creation of spaces of exchange amongst Afrodiasporic communities over three weeks at Kampnagel International Summer Festival. Every Friday, the installation will become home to talks and performances offering plural, multiple poetic conceptions and visions for possibility.

We Work In The Dark is looking for local participants from the African diaspora for their participatory opera-performance THE TOOLS THAT BUILT THIS HOUSE on the evening of August 19th that explores themes of Black domesticity, material culture, and rhythm as memory through the participatory opera-performance. During the performance, the participants will beat a rhythm on different objects. Experience with musical instruments and performances not required.

A short rehearsal will take place on the evening of August 16. Participation will be compensated with an allowance of 100 Euros. More info and registration via viktoria.wojewodka_for[at]kampnagel.de by July 31st 2022.
