Can you hear us! Iran is fighting for Freedom
On Friday, the Kampnagel foyer will not only serve as an entrance and waiting room, but also as a space for political art interventions: while we go about our normal lives here, going out on Friday evenings and visiting the theater, countless people in Iran are mourning their loved ones who were shot dead by regime forces during protests for democratization. At the same time, many others are in detention, facing torture and execution. All this is happening during a total internet blackout imposed by the government, so that human rights violations remain undocumented and unseen by the world. The few news reports that reach us from Iran urgently call for attention and pressure on the regime from outside.
However, the German chancellor offers little more than empty words, and the interior minister refuses to implement a ban on deportations to Iran.
All of this is addressed in an impressive performance by M., who calls on us to look, to take action, and not to remain silent.
The performance speaks out against the role of the former Shah's son, which is overemphasized by Western media, and in favor of democratic self-determination for the people of Iran.
