Abo Gabi / Shkoon

Syrian musician Abo Gabi opens the evning with his music that can be characterised as »tarab« (arab.: طرب), an Arab word that describes a trance that develops when playing or listening to his music. The Hamburg music project Shkoon follows with their very special Oriental Slow House.

Syrian situation

In 2011 segments of the Syrian people revolted against the Assad regime and startet the Arab Spring. Eight years later, Syria is devastated by war and more than 6 million people fled the country. Kampnagel curator Anas Aboura invited Syrian artists and activists to discuss the current situation in their country.

أبو غابي \ شكون

نبتدأ أمسيتنا مع الفنان أبو غابي, تعلم أبو غابي فنون الغناء من أبيه منذ نعومة أظفاره واختص بالغناء الطربي الصوفي, وصقل موهبته وصوته على يد كثير من الأساتذة في هذا اللون الغنائي الصعب.

ألبومه الأول »حجاز حرب« قام بكتابة الجزء الأكبر منه أثناء رحلة الهجرة من سورية حتى استقر به المطاف في النهاية في فرنسا, الألبوم بحد ذاته كان تحد كبير لأنه تمت كتابته وتسجيل موسيقاه ضمن ظروف صعبة أثناء الرحلة تعاون أبو غابي مع عدد من الموسيقيين المتواجدين بتلك الفترة في أكثر من دولة وأطلق الألبوم ٢٠١٣ ليوثق المعاناة السورية بأغان ستبقى في الذاكرة طويلا.فرقة شكون الشهيرة من هامبورغ ستحيي الجزء الثاني من أمسيتنا, موسيقاهم تعد نموذج من دمج الأنماط الموسيقي الشرقية مع الإيقاعات الغربية الإلكترونية
