Futuristic music with images: Three immersive premieres in and for the planetarium
For a hundred years, planetariums have offered a view into the endless expanses of the universe. In the THE NEW INFINITY series, visual artists and musicians create Fulldome works in accordance with today’s digital capabilities and create unique, immersive spatial experiences for the 21st century. The second work cycle of THE NEW INFINITY in the Hamburg Planetarium combines three world premieres on one evening. These include a work by Agnieszka Polska, winner of the National Gallery Prize and one of the most buzzed-about artists of the moment, as well as one by the artist collective Metahaven, who were guests at the Summer Festival in 2015 with Holly Herndon, and one that emerged from a collaboration between the sound artist Robert Lippok and digital artist Lucas Gutierrez. These three audio-visual artworks offer an immersive trip into eternity and new inspirations for art production in the 21st century (and can be combined between August 16 and 18 with the Fulldome concert by Arcade Fire-member Richard Reed Parry).
